NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

Please be advised that the Marist Hockey Club is holding a special general meeting on Sunday 15th February, 5.00pm at St Joseph’s Parish Centre, Vagues Road, Papanui. The purpose of the meeting is to formally adopt our new constitution prior to reregistering as an incorporated society under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

The new Incorporated Societies Act includes a significant number of changes including how we report, what records we need to keep, how we structure our organisation, the accountability of our Officers, and how we resolve disputes. Should our club wish to remain an Incorporated Society, we must re-register by 5 April 2026. The benefits of being an Incorporated Society include;

• Protecting volunteers

• Making funding easier

• Improves governance

• Supports long-term sustainability

• Reduces risk

To do so requires us to host a Special Meeting to adopt our new constitution formally prior to submitting for approval.

Prior to the meeting, the constitution will be available here for you to review, provide feedback and ask questions.  A copy of our existing constitution will also be available.    You will be notified via direct mail and on facebook, when this is available on our website and how to provide feedback.

Following adoption of the constitution, as part of the re-registration under the act, we will be reviewing associated policies.
